Background:
Town Council Meeting 2/12/2025: Adopted a "Municipal Certification of Resolution ~2025 Office of Policy and Management Neglected Cemetery Account Grant Program" to submit a Grant Application for improvements to .
Based on the work the Cemetery Committee submitted to the OPM, the Town has been awarded $8,000. This action will appropriate the funding to the Cemetery Committee Grant Account to facilitate the work as noted below:
Background:
The Office of Management & Policy (OPM) is accepting Grant Applications to assist Municipalities with the maintenance of neglected burial grounds and cemeteries.
The Grant Amount is $5,000 and does not require any local funding to be eligible for the grant. The Application Due Date is February 13, 2025.
The Ledyard Cemetery Committee’s plan for the use of the funding is noted below:

Tasks: The individual tasks to be performed in order to accomplish the objective of the grant award. |
Clearing of Weeds, Briars and BushesDumping fees related to the removal of brush |

Mayor Comment/Recommendation:
The grant was initially offered to municipalities for $5,000. After the State received the applications, they were able to increase the award to $8,000. I support this motion.
