MOTION authorize the Parks, Recreation, & Senior Citizens Director to overspend Parks & Recreation General Fund 10160101-56220 (Electricity) in the amount not to exceed $5,200; to cover utility costs thru June 30, 2023.
Moved: Ingalls Seconded: Ryan
Action: Recommend to Approve
Minute Note:
Moved by Councilor Ingalls, seconded by Councilor Ryan
Discussion: Councilor Saums questioned whether Parks, Recreation, & Senior Center Director Scott Johnson, Jr., had an estimate of the amount of money they would need to cover the electricity expenses thru the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2023).
Parks, Recreation, & Senior Center Director Scott Johnson, Jr., stated because of the electricity rate hike in January, 2023, that he estimated they would need about $5,200, noting that he was hoping to transfer funds from other budget lines to off-set the amount of additional funds need to pay for the electricity costs.
Councilor Saums suggested the following language be added to the Motion “in the amount not to exceed $5,200….”
Councilor Ingalls asked when requesting authorization to overspend budget accounts that Mr. Johnson provide all the numbers and the dollar amount needed going forward.
The Finance Committee agreed to add the language as suggested by Councilor Saums (see above) as a “Friendly Amendment”.
Action: Recommend to Approve
