MOTION to appoint Mr. Mark Tebbets ( R) 323 Shewville Road, Ledyard to the Building Code Board of Appeals for a five (5) year term ending October 13, 2027 filling a vacancy left by Mr. Chiapperini.

Background:
Mr. Tebbets is employed by the Town of Montville as their Municipal Building Official and he has a strong understanding of Connecticut Building Codes, their practical application, and the importance of fair and consistent enforcement. (please see attached application)
Mr. Tebbets is interested in using his experience to support his community. He is an active member of the community as parent of a 2024 LHS standout student-athlete graduate, who is currently serving the country in the armed forces.
Mr. Tebbets has 20+ years of Code Consulting and 5+ years of Code Enforcement. He is currently a civil engineering and architectural engineering student.
Administrative Notes:
The Building Code of Appeals meets on an “as-needed basis”.
With former Chiarman Chiapperini resignation, the Board has one vacancy. (please see attached)

In accordance with Chapter IV; Section 8 of the Town Charter “Except as otherwise provided for in this Charter, the Town Council may appoint members to fill vacancies in other offices, boards, and commissions established by this Charter and by ordinance as vacancies may occur, and appointing members to such offices, boards, and commissions as may be created in the future. Such appointments shall be made by the Town Council for such terms and upon such conditions as provided in the respective ordinance”.
