Background:
Ledyard Police Department applied for and received the 2024 High Risk Rural Road Speed Enforcement Program Grant.
The High Risk Rural Road Speed Enforcement Funding is a 100% reimbursable Grant Program that supports personnel costs for speed enforcement and equipment purchases for speed measuring devices. Therefore, the department is requesting the appropriation of funds to pay for speed measuring equipment as reflected in the attached quotes.
This Grant Program is aimed at reducing the amount of speed related fatalities and injuries on Connecticut's High Risk Rural Roads.
Department Comments/Recommendation:
The department recommends purchasing equipment in the amount of $12,872 which is 100% reimbursable under the grant program.

GRANT APPLICATION POLICY AND PROCESS
The Ledyard Town Council will approve all grant applications submitted by the Town to any governmental agency or private foundation on behalf of the Town; and any items that are offered to the Town by any entity, and items taken in forfeiture by the Town. Every department, commission, or board acting on behalf of the Town of Ledyard when seeking grants or responding to an offer to the Town of grant funds or items must follow this policy and process.
Grants, for these purposes include:
1. Grants that require a Town match -- whether the match is a dollar figure, an in-kind contribution, or a combination thereof
2. Grants that are 100% funded
