Note - Due to inclement weather this meeting was held remote only via Zoom.  
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Marelli at 6:35 p.m.

Ms. Kil reports that the Tri-Town Trail is negotiating with abutting landowners to get permission  
to cross property. She will report back.

VII. OLD BUSINESS  
RESULT:  
Property Walks.  
1.  
Mr. Harwood walked the yellow path at Barton Lane. One gate is open and another is locked.  
Chairman Marelli will talk with Mayor Fred Allyn III about meeting with Groton Open Space  
regarding the locks.  
Chairman Marelli walked the Burton property with Frank Cervo of CT DEEP, who pointed out  
invasive species and said much of the land is old growth which is so thick that it is blocking out  
new growth. Mr. Cervo is creating a report. He suggested hiring a professional forester to come  
up with a plan to maintain the property. Inquiring about possible grants.

Pollinator Pathways Project continued.  
The Commission will need to discuss who will maintain the pollinator pathways. Also, the  
project along the wall at Highland park is inadequate.

Chairman Marelli may receive a field clearing estimate at the end of February.

Work with Ledyard schools and Avalonia on Burton-Pike Marshall property.  
Discuss Mystic Watershed ideas and incorporate them into programs.

VIII. NEW BUSINESS  
Request for Budget item continued.  
1.  
Ms. Graham is seeking support from the Commission to go before the Town Council to request  
$5,000 to start an invasive species monitoring program for the boat launch at Lantern Hill. The  
intention of the monitoring program is to keep out invasive species, including Hydrilla. Ms.  
Graham will go before the Town Council with the hope of getting a hearing before the Finance  
Committee. The goal is to bring back a plan that the Commission can discuss and possibly  
approve.
