attendance at one Farmer's markets this summer and have a more interactive presence and collect
donations. Ms. Martic will research which dates are available and sign the Committee up for one of
them.
Other groups that will attend the Earth Day event include ARC (Ms. Schneider may run their
booth). Also, the Ledyard Conservation Commission, LEAF, GFS/JWL PTO and potentially a
table for Parks and Recreation.
There has been difficulty obtaining a dumpster for the event. Ms. Hewes offered to check with
some sources and research a donation. The Committee also discussed asking Steve Masalin,
Public Works Director, for assistance with acquiring a dumpster.
Naomi Rodriguez, Town Council Chairperson, donated gift cards to use as gifts for the Trash 2
Treasure recycling contest and accepted a request to be a third judge for the contest, in addition
to Mayor Allyn III and Scott Johnson.
The Committee discussed that the most important things remaining to do before the Earth Day
event are to share and promote the activities and event as much as possible to increase
attendance.
Chairperson Kohrs shared that the Ledyard Middle School Junior Beautification Committee is
planning a school cleanup on Earth Day, April 22. They will also attend the Earth Day
celebration. Part of the event includes annual planting at the school. Ms. Schneider proposed
pre-approving up to $100 to purchase annuals to plant at the event.
Motion to APPROVE spending up to $100.00 on annuals to be planted at Ledyard Middle
School.

Chairperson Kohrs shared that as part of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration
of Independence the LBC will plant bulbs in the fall that spell out “250” in one or two locations
around Town so that they will bloom next spring during the year-long celebration.
Mr. Christiansen mentioned that the Rotary Club once again has a grant cycle that ends soon and
encouraged the Committee to apply, possibly for funding for the bulbs for the 250 Anniversary
