Chairman Garstka was approached about a slaughterhouse opening in town. The Zoning
Department said that slaughterhouses are not currently permitted. They said that most often
slaughterhouses are approved in commercial zones, but the individual is interested in building it
on a residential property. The regulations would need to be rewritten for them to be passed, they
cannot be approved by exemption.
Chairman Garstka reported that Ms. Parkinson has found success in pasturing out her property to
horse grazing.
The Ledyard 250 event is approaching, and a discussion was held about whether the
Commission would want to partner with other Committee(s) to celebrate agriculture. Chairman
Garstka said the AG Commission and the Historic District Commission go hand in hand and
asked the Commissioners to think about ideas. One idea is to hold Farm tours, possibly have
Farm Passports similar to Wine Passports. Mr. Marelli said the America 250 meetings are being
held on Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. To be continued.
Ms. Angelini reported that there are errors in the Town's GIS survey system, when she asked the
Assessors about it, she was told she could file a petition for 2026. It would not be updated before
then.
