OLD BUSINESS
Future Projects Discussion.
Chairperson Kohrs spoke with Scott Johnson, Parks and Recreation Director, and will work with
him to come up with a date to hold a "fill a dumpster" day at the Senior Center.
Mr. Eastbourne signed the Committee up for a Farmers market booth on September 17, 2025.
Farmer's Market. Donations will be requested for the daffodil planting on October 25,2025,
during the market event. Promotion for donations will begin before the Farmers Market event
day. A sign-up sheet for planting event volunteers will be available at the market. Chairperson
Kohrs asked the Committee to think of ideas to engage event attendees.
Town Wide Back to School Bash (includes all of the Ledyard Schools). Ms. Hawes said that all
Community Groups were asked to run some sort of activity. Each activity earns a stamp and if
all stamps are collected the students receive a prize. The event date is August 23, 2025, from
3:00 to 7:00. Fundraiser for LEAF (Ledyard Educational Advancement Fund). There was an idea
to ask some of the Middle School Club students to attend the event. Ms. Hawes said it would be
a good opportunity to talk about the Committee with parents and create some interest.
Chairperson Kohrs reported that she submitted a grant application to the Rotary Club. She
requested $600.00 to purchase crocus bulbs for America 250. The locations are still to be
determined but preferably two locations, one in Ledyard and one in Gales Ferry.
Town Hall Stairwell - Chairperson Kohrs confirmed with Mayor Fred Allyn III that there is no
Historical significance with the old Connecticut State flag and that it could be moved.
Chairperson Kohrs made a suggestion to create a year-round sign that reads "Welcome to
Ledyard" or "Ledyard, the Town for Four Seasons". Other ideas include a mural or a "buy a brick
and decorate it".
Company sponsors - The Committee needs to reach out and see if sponsors are still interested.
