The Regular Meeting was called to order by Chairman Vidal at 4:10 p.m.

individual cemeteries. The Committee decided more flags and medallions may be needed.

Mr. Hagen has volunteered to help Ed Butler, the current adopter of the Allyn-Spicer Cemetery  
on Silas Deane Road. Mr. Godino will contact Mr. Butler to arrange introductions. Mr. Godino  
will also contact the Mashantucket Tribe about maintaining the Main Town Cemetery.  
Veterans.  
The Committee has a count of approximately 740 veterans within the cemeteries. Chairman  
Vidal has emailed the complete list of Veterans to the Committee members. Mr. John Proctor,  
sextant of the Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, proposed May 10th at 9:00 a.m. for the flagging of  
both Avery-Stoddard and Gales Ferry Cemeteries with a rain date of May 17th at 9:00 a.m.  
Motion to APPROVE the proposed flagging of Avery-Stoddard and Gales Ferry Cemeteries on  
May 10, 2025, with a rain date of May 17, 2025.

Chairman Vidal confirmed prices for printing at approximately $50 per book. The Committee  
discussed approaching the Town and other businesses for possible financial assistance with the  
cost of printing.

The Committee has been selected by the state of Connecticut to receive $8,000 as a recipient of  
the Neglected Cemetery Account Grant Program. Mr. Godino suggested planning to evaluate the  
cemeteries while replacing flags. The information gathered will be used to decide how the  
Committee can best use grant funds.  
VIII. NEW BUSINESS  
Discussion and possible vote to change the Committee meeting time from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

The Committee discussed changing the meeting time from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. The consensus  
of the Committee was positive for moving the meeting time. The Committee will revisit the  
matter later in the calendar year.  
Any Other New Business to Come Before the Committee.

Mr. Hagen is interested in becoming a Regular member of the Cemetery Committee and will  
reach out to the Town to begin the application process.  
Mr. Proctor has suggested purchasing "D2" cleaning solution for headstone restoration.  
Mr. Godino informed the Committee that donations made in memory of the late Mrs. Sheila  
Godino, to the approximate amount of $2700 in a Town account, are available for use as the  
Committee sees fit. Mr. Godino would like to create a long-term plan to restore headstones in all  
ancient and abandoned town cemeteries. This includes requesting funds from the Town to aid in  
the project.  
Ms. Gardiner-Lundgren would like the Committee to consider supporting an upcoming Eagle  
Scout project request to build a plot map for the Christopher Avery Cemetery. More information  
will be provided at the next meeting.  
Mr. Proctor shared an event that will be taking place on December 13, 2025. The American  
Heritage Girls will once again be participating in Wreaths Across America at the  
Avery-Stoddard Cemetery.
