PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Comment and donation.
No public present.
Chairperson Eastbourne said that Resident Mark Cohen made a generous donation of $500.00,
which was appreciated. Mr. Cohen included a picture of a specific area on Route 12 (an island
across from Mc Donald's) of which he hopes to get cleaned up. Chairperson Eastbourne said the
area will be researched and the Committee will speak to Public Works. The Committee will
brainstorm ideas and it will become a future project. Ms. Kohrs suggested inviting Mr. Cohen to
a meeting once the Committee has a few ideas they could present to him.

OLD BUSINESS
Event Banner discussion continued.
During the last meeting the Committee discussed a couple of banner ideas, one being a tabletop
banner. Chairperson Eastbourne suggested purchasing a long banner with grommets that can be
carried or hung from a tent or table. The banner will have the Committee's name and possibly a
daffodil picture on it. Ms. Kohls agreed that a long banner would be more useful than a tabletop
one. Ms. Schneider commented that the Farmer's market gets windy therefore a grommet banner
that could be tied down would be better. In addition to the banner Ms. Kohrs suggested using a
print and a clear plastic frame stand to display on the market table.
Motion to APPROVE spending up to $250.00 on a Committee Banner for event usage.

Farmer’s Market Discussion continued.

Dates:
August 16
September 13
Farmers market on August 16, 2023 -
Ms. Eastbourne said the Town has a tent to borrow which has been reserved for the Committee,
she will pick it up. She added that they will still need a table. Ms. Schneider said she has a table
that she could bring to the event.
Chairperson Eastbourne said she will bring a container for donations which she will put weight
in the bottom, so it doesn't blow away.
Ms Kohrs presented two designs for car decals (stickers). Both read "keeping Ledyard Beautiful"
with a daffodil design, one is in a rectangular design, the other is a die cut design with the
daffodil standing out. The die cut stickers ar more expensive. Pricing for 200 die cut 5"x5"
stickers are $234.00 or $151.00 for 100. For a 5"x"3" rectangular design it would cost $148.00
for 200 and $103.00 for 100. Another option is the static cling sticker which would cost $165.00
for 200. Chairperson Eastbourne asked if the Committee would ask residents for a donation to
get a sticker, she suggested asking for a $5.00. Ms. Kohrs suggested giving a sticker to anyone
who puts a donation in the bucket. The Committee decided on purchasing static cling stickers
and giving them to anyone who donates.
Attendance at the August 16, 2023 market:
Chairperson Eastbourne
Carol Schneider
Sheila Vincent
Farmer's market on September 13, 2023:
The tent is not available for that date, also Chairperson Eastbourne is unable to attend. She asked
if the Committee wanted to find a tent and keep the September 13th date or ask if the date could
be changed to September 20th when the Town tent is available. It was decided to try to move the
date to the 20th. Chairperson Eastbourne will inquire about moving the market date to
September 20, 2023.
Ideas for kid crafts -
Ms. Schneider suggested bookmarks. Ms. Korhs suggested using biodegradable tea cloth baggies
for planting seeds. The cost is $1.27 for 100 pieces on Temu. The Committee would have to
provide seeds and dirt. One possibility is to ask Holdridges to donate dirt. The Committed could
put their name on the table as the doner. The bookmarks could be done during the August 16th
market date and the plantings during the September 13th market date.
Motion to APPROVE spending up to $250.00 on static cling decals.

Designs will be shared.
Chairperson Eastbourne said she was unsure if the Holiday banners have been ordered yet or not.
New Secretary and Treasurer continued.

5.
Chairperson Eastbourne said Committee Member Jen Holdsworth will step down in September
but she is not sure if she will leave the Committee entirely.
Future Projects.
The Gales Ferry School gardens need attention before school starts continued.
August 19, 2023, is the date for the Gales Ferry School garden cleanup. The goal is to weed,
clean up and get it ready for planting. The planting will be done at a later day in September or
October.
Chairperson Eastbourne spoke with SCRRRA about their paper making class. They can host a
"paper making from scratch" event during October with up to 20 children in attendance.
SCRRRA will provide blenders, screens and water. The Committee will provide seeds which
will be sprinkled on the paper. The paper could be used to make seed paper confetti or for
coloring on before planting. Possibly hold the event at a local church. Ms. Schneider suggested
the Gales Ferry Community Center or the Senior Center. Chairperson Eastbourne suggested
having another project such as pinecone bird feeders for children to work on while waiting for
their turn to make paper. SCRRRA said to come up with a few dates in October that would work
for the Committee.
Chairperson Eastbourne suggested inquiring with SCRRRA about a composting class.
Any Other Old Business to Come before the Committee.
None.
6.
VII. NEW BUSINESS
Any Other New Business to Come before the Committee.
1.
Chairperson Easbourne saw pictures of another town that had Veterans flags hanging on poles.
An idea for the Committee would be to have families and/or friends sponsor a Veteran whose
flag would hang up in Town from Memorial Day through Veteran's Day. Chairperson
Eastbourne will ask Public Works if they would be willing to hang the banners before going any
further. There may be more people interested than there are poles available, in that case it would
be first come, first serve only.
A fundraising idea for spring is daffodil "flocking".
Ms. Kohrs suggested a wreath making class, maybe even doing a collaboration with the Garden
Club.
