CEAP (Connecticut Energy Assistance Program) Update  
Ms. Chapman stated that the deadline for fuel deliveries was extended through March 31st.  
Applications for assistance are still open at this time and Ms. Chapman is available to assist  
residents with applying. Applications that are accepted after March 31, 2023 may be able to  
receive a credit to their utility account.

Parks & Recreation Summer Camp Scholarships

Ms. Chapman stated that applications for summer camp scholarships will begin on the same day  
that Parks & Recreation beings accepting registrations in early spring. Ms. Chapman will send  
an email blast to the current Ledyard Social Services Client list announcing the acceptance of  
applications. Funding is limited and applications are processed in the order received. The  
fundraising campaign for scholarships will launch on Monday, April 3rd. Ms. Chapman stated  
that last year 20 scholarships totally $9,556.25 were awarded. Ms. Chapman asked for any other  
fundraising ideas for the scholarships program in addition to grants and community donations.  
Mr. Grim suggested contacting the Fire and Police Unions.  
Mr. Grimm inquired about the cost of summer camp. Ms. Chapman stated the cost is $125 per  
child per week. Ms. Shipley stated that the price is a good deal. Mr. Grimm stated that when his  
children attended camp in Groton for the cost for the entire summer was $250. Ms. Chapman  
stated that towns vary in funding for these programs. The Board also discussed the hours of the  
program and the difficulty for working parents as camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Ms.  
Chapman stated that residents with concerns regarding the cost or hours of the program should  
attend the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting. Ms. Chapman stated that the summer camp  
program falls under the purview of Parks & Recreation Department and it is Ms. Chapman's  
understanding that any limitations in hours are funding related. Chairman Bozym clarified that  
anyone with concerns about the program or program hours contact Parks & Recreation.  
Chairman Bozym reiterated that Social Services provides scholarships for those in need of  
funding assistance. Ms. Bozym stated that it is helpful to know where to direct people with  
questions.

Ms. Chapman shared that the Town of Ledyard has a new Veterans Representative. Dave  
Nelson is available to assist veterans and active duty service members with service related  
issues. Residents seeking to make an appointment with Mr. Nelson should contact Kristen  
Chapman at 860-464-3222. Chairman Bozym suggested that Mr. Nelson would be a good  
option for the first Presentation. Ms. Chapman will reach out to Mr. Nelson regarding his  
availability to present.
